House of the Week: A shack in the Catskills

This week’s house is an itty-bitty house in the Sullivan County town of Narrowsburg. The house is built by Catskill Farms and owner Chuck Petersheim, who is the subject of the Real Estate section cover in Sunday’s newspaper. (Click here or on the photo to launch a gallery of images.)

Long-story-short: Petersheim moved up to Sullivan County from NYC about 10 years ago and began building vacations homes. He’s built about 90 in the years since, from Narrowsburg to Woodstock and Saugerties. The houses aren’t cookie-cutter — no house, in fact, replicates one previously constructed.

This house, which Petersheim describes as a shack, is just 500 square feet and sits on about five acres. With one bedroom and one bathroom, it’s for sale for $178,000. Another, slightly larger, Catskill Farms house is in the gallery below. Don’t get too attached, though, because the 1,250-square-foot house has already sold.
